Captured On Floppy Tip #2 — Macro
Photography
One of my favorite features about my
FD-71 is it's ability to do macro photography. For those of you who are
not fluent with the terminology, macro photography is magnafied image
of typically a small object. Most of the Mavica cameras can get about
an inch away from the subject, yet still remain in focus. (usually
depending on lighting)
One of the most important things you should consider before taking macro photographs is the lighting. A well lit subject is necessary, because you can NOT use the flash. As you probably already know, your picture will not turn out. Usually 3 light sources work well for macro photograhy, one in front, and two on either sides of the object offset slightly. Once you have established your lighting, zoom the camera out fully, turn on autofocus, and hold the camera so the lense is about an inch away from the object. Now, slowly zoom in until the picture starts to blur. When it reaches the blur point, zoom out slightly until the picture regains it's clarity. Hold the camera steady, and take the picture. You might be surprised how much you can magnify an object.
